In the low season (27 March–4 July and 25 August–1 November) Ballum Camping accepts ACSI, ADAC Pincamp, Camping Key Europe, DCU and Back to Nature cards. ACSI holders pay a fixed DKK 201 per night for a standard pitch including 2 adults, electricity up to 4 kWh and one dog, while the other cards each grant a 15 % discount on the standard pitch price for up to two people. Discounted places are limited and a valid, activated card must be shown on arrival.
Do you offer long-stay discounts such as 7 = 6 nights?
Yes. In the low season Ballum Camping runs a 7 = 6, 14 = 12, 21 = 18 and 28 = 24 offer, so you pay for fewer nights when staying 7, 14, 21 or 28 consecutive nights on a standard, XL, XXL or tent pitch. The promotion is not combinable with other discounts and is not valid from 28 December to 4 January.
Can I choose a specific pitch when booking?

Yes. The Wadden Sea Centre operates a 4-hour Koresand tour that starts with a ride on the ‘Havørnen’ tractor bus from the centre to Mandø and continues to Koresand, where a nature guide leads a beach walk and helps search for amber, shells, and other finds.
Are hair dryers available in the sanitary block, and do they cost extra to use?
Yes. The renovated washrooms are equipped with hair dryers that guests can use free of charge around the clock.
Are the camping fields divided by hedges and trees for additional shelter and privacy?
Yes. Ballum Camping’s 7.5-hectare grounds are laid out as four separate fields that are bordered by hedges and mature trees, giving each pitch natural wind protection and a cosy, private atmosphere.
Can I walk or cycle directly from the campsite into the Wadden Sea National Park without using a car?
Yes. Paths start right at the campsite entrance, so guests can walk or cycle straight into the adjoining Wadden Sea National Park.
How much does a 4-minute shower cost?
A 4-minute hot shower costs 6 DKK (approximately €0.80) per use.
Which types of vehicles are suitable for the C17–C25 small camper van pitches?
Pitches C17–C25 are designed for compact vehicles up to 6 m such as camper vans, VW vans, Roadsurfer models, and cars fitted with a roof-top tent. Larger motorhomes and caravans must use the regular camping or dedicated motorhome pitches.
Do the C17–C25 small camper van pitches have a paved surface?
Yes. Each of the C17–C25 pitches is laid with a paved surface, giving camper vans a firm and level parking base.
Can I join an insect-hotel building workshop while staying at Ballum Camping?

Is there a short ‘Wild by Design’ biodiversity course available nearby?

Does the Wadden Sea Centre organise oyster safaris, and what can I expect?
Yes. The Wadden Sea Centre runs guided oyster safaris where a nature guide leads participants into the tidal flats to collect, open and taste fresh Wadden Sea oysters while explaining different preparation methods and the species’ sustainability.
Is there a surcharge for booking an XL or XXL pitch when using an ACSI discount card?
Yes. When you stay on an XL or XXL camping pitch with an ACSI card, an extra surcharge is added on top of the fixed ACSI nightly rate.
Can I combine a discount card with other special promotions?
No. Discount cards such as ACSI, ADAC Pincampcard or Camping Key Europe cannot be combined with any other offers or reductions.
What amperage is supplied at the electricity hook-ups on standard, XL and XXL camping pitches?
All standard, XL and XXL camping pitches are equipped with a 10-ampere power socket.
May I book a camping pitch without using electricity?
Yes. You are welcome to stay on any standard, XL or XXL camping pitch even if you do not wish to connect to the 10-amp power hook-up.
Are wheelchair-accessible mudflat tours available and can I borrow a special electric wheelchair?
Yes. On most Wadden Sea Centre excursions, you can borrow a specially designed electric wheelchair that allows guests with limited mobility to drive on the mudflats at low tide. The exhibition building itself is also fully wheelchair-friendly.
How do I book a private guided tour for a larger group at the Wadden Sea Centre?

Is safety gear such as waders supplied on the Wadden Sea Centre’s oyster tours?

Is there a special Father’s Day event at the Wadden Sea Centre?
Yes. For Father’s Day the Centre advertises the “Aquavit of the marshland” hike—a guided excursion followed by the option to relax in the eco-certified café. Tickets can be purchased through the online calendar link provided in the event description.
Is a Camping Key Card mandatory for check-in at Ballum Camping?
No. A Camping Key Card is no longer compulsory; you may simply present a regular ID card or passport at reception when you arrive.
Can I purchase a gift card for the Wadden Sea Centre’s exhibitions and tours?
Yes. The Wadden Sea Centre sells gift cards that can be bought online through the Centre’s website and used for exhibition tickets or guided nature experiences.
What is the group entrance price for visiting the Wadden Sea Centre exhibition?
For groups of 15 or more people, admission costs DKK 112 per adult and DKK 40 per child aged 4–13; children aged 0–3 enter for free.
Does the Wadden Sea Centre arrange tailor-made nature activities alongside business meetings or conferences?
Yes. The Centre can combine meeting or conference arrangements with customised Wadden Sea activities such as short 1–2-hour walks, full-day tours, seal watching, oyster tastings, or team-building races adapted to your schedule, season and tide conditions.
When were the sanitary facilities last renovated and what was updated?
The restroom and shower building was fully refurbished in early 2025, adding a modern family bathroom, an accessible bathroom, a baby-changing room, new individual washing cubicles and free hair dryers.
Do reception opening hours extend in the high season?
Yes. From 11 July to 23 August the reception is staffed from 08:15–19:00 (until 20:00 on the Rømø Motor Festival weekend), offering longer service hours than in spring and autumn.
Is Cabin type B heated and how many people can it accommodate?
Yes. Cabin type B is equipped with electric heating and is suitable for a maximum of 2 adults and 1 child.
What kitchen equipment is included in Cabin type B?
The cabin contains a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, filter coffee machine, electric kettle, boiling plates, cutlery, pots, pans and running cold water.
How much does a dedicated motorhome pitch cost per night for two adults?
A motorhome pitch costs 150 DKK per night in the low season and 180 DKK in the high season; electricity is metered and billed separately, and an environmental tax of 7 DKK per person (from 15 years) applies.
What is the nightly price for a single cyclist or hiker with a small tent?
The rate is 100 DKK per night in the low season and 125 DKK in the high season for one person with one tent on the hikers’/cyclists’ field.
May I pitch an extra tent beside my luxury safari tent?
No. Placing an additional tent next to the rented luxury safari tent is not permitted.
What are the check-in and check-out times for the rental cabins?
Cabin guests may check in after 14:00 and must check out before 11:00 on the day of departure. These times apply whether you book the cabin for one night or a longer stay.
May cabin guests use all shared campsite facilities such as toilets and showers?
Yes. Guests staying in any of the four wooden cabins have full access to all Ballum Camping facilities, including the sanitary block with toilets and showers, during their stay.
